The home is situated on the main road through Beeston town centre. Beeston is about 4 miles from Nottingham City centre, and has regular bus and train services. We are 50 yards from the bus station and half a mile from the railway station. The planned extension to Nottingham tram will also pass right outside our home. Beeston itself has a wide selection of shops; our favourites here are the local coffee shops and also the new Tesco store. We also have close contacts with the local churches, and many of our residents visit the coffee mornings and special events hosted at the local Parish Church, which is just across the road from the home (we enjoy bell ringing practice on Wednesday evenings!). We also host a monthly church service at the home run by the local evangelical church.
Our residents sense of wellbeing is promoted by ensuring that when people are admitted to the home we find out as much as we can about them; by learning about their own life experience we tailor make a care plan to maintain independence wherever possible, and to ensure we support each individual in fulfilling their full potential whilst living in a safe environment. We look at the aspects that are important to the person, for instance, for one of our ladies this is the fact that she continues to dust the photographs that are in her room and no one else touches these. She therefore has her own feather duster to do this. For another gentleman it is being able to sit outside in the garden area after lunch to enjoy his pipe whilst reading the sporting post! Every resident has a daily routine for the home posted in their rooms advising of times for meals, drinks and activities etc. Although these are ‘set’, drinks and snacks are available on request any time, day or night, every day of the year.
Our private garden is situated to the rear of the home and provides a sheltered spot where families can enjoy time together. We have a number of seating areas around the home, with large communal lounges on both floors and also a quieter, snug area which is a cosier for private time together.
Visitors are welcome at any time, but we would suggest people usually visit from 10am – 9pm. This is to ensure our residents are able to sleep at night. When visiting you are welcome to join us for a meal (just ask) and to join in with any of our activities. All we ask in return is that you help us to make our home ‘your home’
