Holcroft Grange

Welcome to Holcroft Grange

Holcroft Grange is an attractive, single storey home, pleasantly situated in the centre of the village of Culcheth. The home enjoys good links within the community and enjoys a well thought-out programme of activities. It is within easy walking distance of the Community Centre, medical surgeries and shopping facilities. Set within spacious grounds, the home has two lounges, a conservatory, two dining areas and a cosy corner.Holcroft Grange has 40 single rooms, four of which have en suite bathroom facilities. All rooms have television points. There are a number of pleasant lounge areas around the building, two of which have access to tea-making facilities for visitors to use. One of the lounges is fitted with a hearing loop, a discreet device to improve sound reception and aid those with hearing difficulties. There is also a pleasant garden.

Additional services available to residents include a hairdresser who visits twice a week, and newspaper or magazine deliveries which are arranged through a local newsagent. These are charged on a weekly basis as used. Residents can of course go to their own hairdresser in the village if they prefer. A private chiropodist visits the home on a regular basis. The local dentist also visits the home when needed.

The home also provides a day care service and Hospital escort service. We also provide end of life care with support from the district nurses and GP.

The home’s activities co-ordinator holds regular meetings with the people who live in the home. The co-ordinator spends time with individual people seeking their views on which activities they enjoy and would like to continue to participate in. The activities on offer to the people living in Holcroft Grange are bingo, baking, dominoes, chair exercises and craft work. We would try to support anyone wishing to continue with a hobby or any other interest. The home is supported by a group of volunteers who work with the activities co-ordinator. Home entertainment is provided on a monthly basis by visiting entertainers. Trips on canal boats, to shows and on picnics are also arranged. These visits are enjoyed by everyone. The home is supported by local school children who regularly come to visit the home and entertain residents with their singing.

Meals are usually taken in one of the two pleasant dining rooms at Holcroft Grange, although residents can if they wish have their meals served to them in their rooms. The meals are varied and nutritious and personal needs and diets are catered for. Mealtimes are relaxed and staff allow the time the people need to finish their meals comfortably. Visitors are requested not to visit at mealtimes so that residents are not disturbed but special arrangements can be made for them to join the resident for a meal. There are tea making facilities in both of the lounges for visitors to make a drink during their visit.

There is a regular visit from people belonging to the Methodist Church who hold a Church Service in the Sun Lounge. Roman Catholic Communion is held in the home once a week. The Church of England visits the home once a month.

Holcroft Grange enjoys an excellent location in the heart of the village of Culcheth. There are numerous small shops and a supermarket within walking distance and pleasant small cafes to visit with relatives or friends. There is a local pub and some of the residents have enjoyed meals there. The doctors surgeries are within a two minute walking distance. The area is serviced by a good bus service that is convenient for trips to Leigh or Warrington.

My first experience of a care home, I have only ever heard bad news about care homes but how wrong they are. I cannot praise the staff of this home enough and when I say, staff, I mean all staff, the ones doing the caring and the all too forgotten staff behind the scenes i.e. cooks cleaners, maintenance man etc. My mother was cared for in this home right up to her last day, all staff were excellent caring not just for the welfare of my mother but that of the family. The care home is run as one big family, warm and inviting. Thank You for changing my view of care homes.

My husband goes into Holcroft Grange for respite care. He his well looked after there and the staff are very kind and helpful. They are polite and understanding because it is difficult for me as his wife and family because he is suffering from Alzheimer's and Dementia, which puts added strain on the family.

My experience at Holcroft Grange care home has been very good. All the staff and management are very caring. Nothing is too much trouble for them. My mother has been living there for 4 1/2 years and my father 3 years. My mother is very frail now and bed bound but they still continue to care for her with dignity and are always so very caring. It means I have piece of mind when I am not there. My mums life is nearing it's end now and I know she is getting the very best care. The staff are very good to me too, knowing I am upset they do their best to comfort me.

Holcroft Grange provides excellent day to day care and support for my mother. They have regular activities and entertainment being organised for the residents involvement and enjoyment.

My dad stayed at Holcroft Grange for respite and has been very well cared for. Positive and helpful staff members with very good communication.

There are always lots of activities going on for the residents. The staff are always friendly, helpful, always trying to go the extra mile and try to make it a home from home. There always seems to be a lot of love to go around. Whenever we visit it always seems to have a family atmosphere whatever time of day we go. It is also very clean and doesn't have any nasty smells. My mother was never happy to leave her home but now seems very happy in her new home, she has been at the home for quite a few years now.
