The Hawthorns is a purpose-built residential care home, enjoying an excellent reputation and location in the heart of Wilmslow. The home is spacious and well maintained, with a number of pleasant indoor and outdoor spaces for residents to enjoy. We have 39 single rooms available, five of which have en-suite facilities. All our rooms are comfortable and spacious. A number have telephone points; all have television points.
There are a number of spacious lounges and dining rooms and an activity room within The Hawthorns. There is also a pleasant, private garden and patio area to relax in with easy wheelchair access.
A number of services are available to residents. For example, a hairdresser visits on a weekly basis; newspaper and magazine deliveries are arranged with a local newsagent and a shop / trolley service is available for items such as greeting cards and personal toiletries.
There is an activities co-ordinator who arranges a wide choice of activities, according to residents’ interests. These include arts and crafts sessions, bingo evenings, tea dances, birthday parties, musical entertainment, trips to shopping centres, sing-a-longs, reminiscence sessions, film shows, pub lunches and excursions such as canal boat trips, visits to garden centres or other attractions such as zoos or museums.
A daily menu choice is displayed in large print. Menus are varied over five weeks and seasonal menus offered. We aim to make mealtimes a central part of the day and an enjoyable social occasion. Varied snacks and treats are also provided.
The Hawthorns is regularly visited by ministers from a number of denominations and there is the opportunity to visit local churches. Communion services and communal worship take place within the home, and there is a room available for private worship or meeting with church representatives.
The Hawthorns enjoys an excellent location, just a short walking distance away from GP practices, local clubs and pubs, supermarket, pharmacy, opticians, chiropody and dental practices, and the shopping centre of Wilmslow. Within the grounds, there is ample car parking space for visitors.
