Welcome to Turnpike Court Care Home

Turnpike Court is a very popular residential home and well thought of in the community. It has an excellent, dedicated and qualified team of staff. Turnpike is a purpose-built home which offers a well-equipped, friendly environment, situated in the heart of a rural village, yet still close to local facilities and the market town centre of Sandbach. There are 28 single rooms including ten with en-suite facilities in the specialised Dementia unit. There are a further 25 en-suite shower rooms in the recently refurbished residential area. All rooms have television points. There are a number of lounge areas around the building. At least one lounge is fitted with a hearing loop, a discreet device to improve sound reception and aid those with hearing difficulties. There is an activities room for the use of residents and a dedicated hairdressing salon for the visiting hairdresser. There is a large dining room for people to dine and socialise, and residents can also choose to eat in their own room if they prefer. There are pleasant gardens to relax in, including an enclosed central garden with pond and water feature. All facilities are wheelchair accessible.

Additional services available to residents include a hairdresser who visits once a week and newspaper and magazine deliveries which are arranged through a local newsagent. These services are charged on a weekly basis as used. There is also a shop trolley service for items such as greetings cards, toiletries, drinks and confectionery.

Regular activities at Turnpike Court include afternoon sessions of either bingo or cards or dominoes. There are regular musical evenings or afternoons with Karaoke or music for health which are very popular. Other events include musical entertainers, summer and Christmas fairs and barbecues in the summer. Various outings to coastal resorts or places of interest are arranged each year. Theatre visits are arranged in the winter to pantomime or music halls, dependent on residents’ interests.

Turnpike offers a good menu selection daily, which is served in a relaxed and sociable atmosphere. All residents are catered for according to their health needs. The residents enjoy a lovely Christmas Party each year with entertainment. Special birthdays are catered for with a party for the resident, their relatives and the other residents.

A local church visits once a month to enable the residents who wish to, to take communion. There is also a monthly Sunday service. Turnpike Court is close to a church and there are chapels in the nearby village should anyone wish to go out to worship. Various ministers visit the home as matter of course.

Turnpike Court is situated on the outskirts of the village of Elworth which is approximately half a mile from the town of Sandbach. The village has several small shops and directly across the road from the home is a small supermarket.

My friend seems to be well looked after and happy in Turnpike Court. The dining room and sitting room are clean and airy. The other residents seem to be happy. Communication with staff is good. All staff are helpful and friendly.

Dad is well looked after in the home, the staff give him lots of attention and affection. We have found all the staff very approachable during periods of illness and have been very proactive to ensure an effective treatment and recovery.

Brilliant staff and place. Since my dad has been in here he has improved drastically. He suffers from dementia and since he has been a resident it's like I have my dad back! Just goes to show the staff really care for people. Can't thank them enough.

Home is very well appointed and all staff are kind and attentive. Mother is well looked after despite her awkwardness.

Turnpike is a pleasant and safe environment to leave mum for daycare. Knowing this I am able to continue to work before taking over her care for the rest of the time. On a personal level mum would benefit from a more physically active day, however, the companionship needs are helped by the environment.

My mother has been staying in the home for the last two months, during this time I have found all the staff without exception very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is always very good whenever I visit, which is about three times a week. The home is very clean and tidy and is a pleasant place to visit. My mother seems very settled already in a short space of time. I would find it very difficult to find any faults whatsoever. I would strongly recommend the home to anybody.

My mother, who had dementia has lived at Turnpike Court for six years. In all of that time she has been treated as an individual with what can only be described as loving care. The staff built a very good relationship with her and the family members from the start. I would have no hesitation in recommending Turnpike Court to anybody in need of care.
